Violet “Letty” Hodge, who was found guilty of conspiracy to import cocaine on June 4, returned to the Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Thursday.

However, because Ms. Hodge’s lawyers have filed an appeal, Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-DaBreo adjourned the case until July 23.

Ms. Hodge’s conviction stems from an alleged drug operation that prosecutors said was conducted by Ms. Hodge, her husband Earl “Bob” Hodge, and several others between 1998 and 2010.

Though Ms. Hodge denied having any involvement with drug trafficking, Ms. Baptiste-DeBreo said she believed the defendant had played a role in the operation by translating and passing messages along to her husband.

Ms. Hodge is currently out on $600,000 bail.

Like his wife, Mr. Hodge has denied involvement with the drug operation, and he is not currently facing any charges.
