Rudolph Edwards did not take the stand in his own defence during his trial for destroying property Monday morning, but through questions he asked a witness he suggested that it wasn’t his fault that a vehicle window got shattered in 2013.

Sigrid Fonseca, Mr. Edwards’ wife, testified that she was being dropped off at home and that Mr. Edwards was waiting on the porch when the vehicle arrived.

“I saw Rudolph was coming toward the car. He jumped over the stairs railing, came to the vehicle and hit the glass with his fist,” Ms. Fonseca said, adding, “The glass got mash-up.”

But Mr. Edwards, who has pleaded not guilty to the charge, disagreed.

Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-DaBreo said she will return a decision in the case on May 21. Mr. Edwards remains on remand for an unrelated charge.
