A man was shot and robbed by two burglars at his apartment in Botanic Station on Friday evening, the Police Information Office disclosed Monday.

The victim reportedly stated that he had just entered his apartment and was closing the door when a masked man grabbed it, pointed a gun at him and demanded money.

A struggle ensued, police said, and a second assailant then entered the apartment and shot the victim in the leg.

The robbers then fled on foot with the victim’s wallet.

Police said the victim reported the burglary the next day, and he was treated at Peebles Hospital and released.

The Criminal Investigations Department is investigating the incident, and anyone with information that might assist in identifying the assailants can contact detectives within the CID by calling 311.
