A man has been charged in connection with a shooting outside of U.P.’s Cineplex shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

Trent Harrigan, 26, of Slaney Hill, was charged Monday morning with attempted murder, police said.

The wounded man, who police did not identify, is at Peebles Hospital in critical condition, according to the Police Information Office.

Officers are asking for more members of his family to come forward so that they can be informed about his condition.

By 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at the crime scene, the investigation was mostly complete, and three forensics officers dressed in white coveralls were resting against a fence.

“We’re pretty much done: We just need to clean up the area,” said acting Police Commissioner Alwin James, who stood across the street from the cineplex with other officers in plainclothes.

The parking lot between U.P.’s and Elmore Stoutt High School was roped off with police tape.

Mr. James said police were notified shortly after the shooting and responded along with emergency medical personnel.

Police are asking anyone who was around the area at the time of the shooting or prior to it to call detectives at 368-5682.
