About five firefighters responded to a blaze that burned a portion of the Curve Bar and Grill on Meyers Hill early Monday morning, according to Deputy Chief Fire Officer William Penn.

“We received the call at about 3:32 a.m., and we took about 20 minutes to contain the fire, and an additional 40 minutes to fully damp down and extinguish all the hotspots to make [sure there was no] re-ignition of the fire,” Mr. Penn said.

He estimated that between 20 and 25 percent of the bar was damaged by the burn, which was mostly concentrated around a grouping of electrical fixtures in the western part of the building.

Firefighters dismantled a section of the roof so that they could completely extinguish the flames, Mr. Penn said.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing and could wrap up by the end of the week, he added.

The deputy fire chief did not know if anyone suffered injuries from the fire, but he noted that the Curve was closed at the time of the incident.
