As of Sept. 1, David Morris will be confirmed as commissioner of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, according to government.

Governor Boyd McCleary made the appointment, which was announced Friday and endorsed by Premier Dr. Orlando Smith.

“[The appointment] has the full support of the National Security Council on which I and the deputy premier sit,” Dr. Smith said.

The NSC, he added, “commended Mr. Morris’ role as deputy commissioner and acting commissioner in developing a new strategic direction for the RVIPF and in building public trust and confidence in the police.”
