A new dock at the Bitter End Yacht Club in North Sound, Virgin Gorda, received a formal blessing from a Virgin Islands pastor on Territory Day weekend and will be further celebrated during the BVI Billfish Tournament this weekend, said Sandra Grisham, the yacht club’s chief operating officer.

“Basically, we’ve rebuilt our dock that Hurricane Earl took out,” she said.

The new dock, at the Bitter End’s Quarterdeck Marina, will accommodate wider vessels and those that sit deeper in the water, Ms. Grisham said.

“The BVI used to have mostly monohulls, and now there’s lots of [catamarans] out there that are much wider,” she said. “Most of our docks couldn’t accommodate the wider boats.”
