Online branding, website development and social media will be among the topics covered at a workshop on “e-business and e-commerce” on Thursday at Maria’s by the Sea.

Facilitators from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, which is hosting the event, will also explain opportunities available in the region.

“Given the small size of most Caribbean firms, and the very limited capital base, e-commerce provides opportunities for reaching customers in distant markets without the cost of establishment or the use of intermediaries,” the OECS stated in a press release. “It is therefore necessary to develop this platform to enable enterprises within the OECS to become more competitive and cost-effective in the global marketplace.”

The workshop will include an “e-commerce diagnostic assessment” of participating firms in the form of a questionnaire.

Information collected at the event will be used to help formulate a regional strategy for the way forward, according to the OECS.
