Government officials are still investigating what caused the container ship Tropic Sun to run aground near the wreck of the Rhone, according to Captain Baboucar Sallah, the director of the Virgin Islands Shipping Registry.

“We will let the public know when it is completed,” Mr. Sallah said Tuesday, adding that the investigation could be finished “in a week or so.”

The Wreck of the Rhone National Park is back open, after the container ship was successfully removed Aug. 31, officials said.

The Tropic Sun, a 400-foot vessel owned by Tropical Shipping, had run aground on the evening of Aug. 28 while on its way from Tortola to St. Martin, said Chris Haycraft, managing director of Island Shipping, Tropical’s agent in the Virgin Islands.
