Police charged two men with conspiracy to import, importation and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply after they were arrested near a Native Son ferry vessel docked at Baughers Bay on Friday evening, according to a police press release.

Around 7:20 p.m. that evening, a man approached the Oriole, which was docked for the night, and met with one of the boat’s crewmembers before returning to his vehicle with a black bag, the press release said.

When police approached the man, he dropped the bag and ran, according to police.

He was chased, apprehended and later identified as 26-year-old Mitch Christopher of Harrigans Estate, the press release said, adding that the crewmember, 25-year-old Myron Royer of St. Thomas, was also arrested.

The black bag contained several packs of what is believed to be marijuana weighing a total of more than seven pounds, the press release said.

Both men were scheduled to appear before the Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
