Police discovered 13 marijuana plantations in a week’s time, resulting in the seizure of more than 2,100 plants, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton announced on Thursday.

 

Ms. Drayton said officers from the East End Police Station and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Tactical Unit located three plantations in Josiahs Bay on Jan. 21, uprooting 1,066 plants ranging from seedlings to five-foot plants.

The next day, officers on Virgin Gorda uprooted 587 more, ranging from seedlings to three-foot plants, in four more plantations located in the Little Dix Bay area, Ms. Drayton continued.

Finally, on Jan. 27 police discovered six plantations at Gorda Peak and Nail Bay, where 474 plants were seized, according to the information officer.

No arrests have been made in connection with the seizures, Ms. Drayton said.
