The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force announced Thursday that it has placed an undisclosed number of officers on compulsory leave as a result of an anti-corruption inquiry.

Acting Police Information Officer Carl Mason said that Police Commissioner David Morris made the decision on Aug. 27, and that a recommendation is being sought from the Police Service Commission to Governor John Duncan that the officers in question be interdicted.

During their interdiction, evidence would be secured and witnesses would be interviewed to prove or disprove the allegations, Mr. Mason said.

He added that the officers will not be named while the inquiry continues and that no further comment will be made by the RVIPF regarding the investigation.
