A St. Vincent man caught with more than five pounds

of marijuana worth an estimated $22,000 was arrested after he reportedly tried to sneak the drugs on a Virgin Gorda-bound ferry last week, police said.

Andres Arturo Bailey, 31, tried to transport the drugs in order to sell them to attendees at the VG Easter Festival, according to a police press release.

Members of the police’s Special Investigations Unit searched Mr. Bailey at the Road Town Ferry Terminal at 1:30 p.m. on April 3 as he waited to catch a ferry to the sister island.

He was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
