Police are investigating two armed robberies that have occurred in the last two weeks: one at the Long Bush Superette and another at Le Grand Cafe in Road Town, according to Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.

The owner of the superette reported to police that one of his employees was held up at gunpoint at about 10 p.m. Monday, Ms. Drayton said. Two men, who wore masks and were dressed all in black, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot towards the Crab Lot area, she said.

She also said that in the early hours of April 19, the juvenile son of the owner of Le Grand Cafe was approached by a lone masked man with a handgun — a crime the police did not report before this week.

The man allegedly demanded money, but instead took a Sony Playstation the boy was using, along with six games. That man also fled on foot, Ms. Drayton said.

Le Grande Cafe was also burglarised in late March, but the alleged perpetrator, John Creque, 20, of McNamara, was caught on camera, arrested, and charged.

The information officer added that there were no injuries in either incident.

She said police are asking that anyone with information about the crimes call the Intelligence Unit at 468-9339 or the Crime Stopper hotline in Miami at 800-8477.
