The BVI Methodist Church and five private schools will each receive “Christian Excellence Awards” on April 22 for their contribution towards Christian education in the territory.

Parents of Class Five students from St. George’s Primary School made the announcement on Friday during a press conference at The Moorings.

The award ceremony will be held in form of a dinner, which is one of several fundraising activities for the graduating class, according to parent Karia Christopher.
From the proceeds collected at the event, top graduates will receive scholarships to be used at St. George’s Secondary School, Ms. Christopher said.
“We also acknowledge that not every church in the BVI will be acknowledged in this ceremony,” she said in explaining how the schools were chosen. “It is the first time we are doing it.”
