Sports, a health fair and games are among the activities ongoing during this Public Service Week, which kicked off Sunday with a service at New Life Baptist Church.

The week, however, is focused primarily on giving back to the community this year, according to Government Information Services.

To that end, service projects are taking place on the four main islands during the week.

On Tortola, Anegada and Virgin Gorda, public officers will clean the yard and paint the home of a senior citizen. On Jost Van Dyke, picnic benches will be built and placed at Gardner Bay.

Other scheduled activities include a softball competition on Monday and Wednesday, and “Employee Feud” on Tuesday evening.

On Thursday, a recognition ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium, and a mini health fair and exercise classes are scheduled for Friday in collaboration with the M.O.V.E. initiative of the Employee Relations Unit of the Department of Human Resources.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and participate.

Organisers are also collecting donations of non-perishable food items for senior citizens, which can be dropped off at the Help Desk in the West Atrium of the Central Administration Building.

Public Service Week is themed “Building Bonds Together for a Better Public Service.”
