When BVI Humane Society Director Tessa Gunter left the Johnsons Ghut
animal shelter on March 14, she made sure all the animals were secure and had food to last them through the night.
The following day, she drove into the compound to find the gates open and some horses out on the road. Then she noticed that the rabbits were gone, along with their food bowls.
“I’ve had these rabbits for about 10 to 15 years now,” Ms. Gunter said Friday as she stood in front of the cage that used to house the animals. “We had five of them. We split them up so the females are separated. Now they are all gone, every one of them. Now what are they going to do with them?”
She added that a report had been made to police.
