At lunchtime on Thursday, form one student Dimitry Donovan was seated under a large tent at the Elmore Stoutt High School. He had just finished a plate of shepherd’s pie, coleslaw and chicken, which he bought for $6 from one of the vendors who are now stationed on the school campus.

Scores of other students were also seated under the tent having lunch. Most of them had bought food from the vendors, while a few had brought lunch from home.

Mr. Donovan said he loves the school’s new lunch programme, which he believes will help keep ESHS students out of trouble. Other students weren’t so sure, saying they would rather continue to eat off campus, as they did in the past.

ESHS Principal Melissa Amey said the new programme is running smoothly.
