If Shirma George had not called 103-year-old Cane Garden Bay resident William Industrious to remind him about the opening ceremony for Senior Citizens Month, he might have missed an opportunity to perform on his harmonica, he said.

Mr. Industrious was speaking to a room full of seniors, whom he proceeded to serenade, during the ceremony at Maria’s by the Sea on Wednesday evening.

The National Boys Choir also performed at the event, before speeches from government officials.

Premier Dr. Orlando Smith said seniors help preserve the cultural history of the Virgin Islands. “As golden citizens, you are a great natural resource for this territory,” Dr. Smith said.
