Several Methodist women traveled from the Virgin Islands to South Africa this summer to attend the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women’s 12th World Assembly.

The gathering was held from Aug. 10-15, drawing about 1,000 participants from Methodist churches around the world.

There, the participants took part in prayer, Bible study, workshops and seminars, according to Brenda Vanterpool, a member of the Road Town Methodist Church. The international gathering is held every five years, Ms. Vanterpool said.

“The trip was great and exciting. We learned a lot,” she said, adding, “It was spirit-filled and uplifting.”
