The league, which started in August, has now crowned its junior and senior league champions along with MVPs.

In the senior division, the Splash Brothers took the title over the West Gunners, 79-78, in the three-game series to win the league championship for the first time. The team will be awarded championship rings at the opening of next year’s league. Additionally, the team’s banner will be raised at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duffs Bottom.

The MVP of the Senior Division went to Steve Parillon, a draft pick on the Splash Brothers.

The Splash Brothers prevented the West Gunners from becoming the first repeat championship team in the fourth annual basketball league.

Abrey Daniel was the top scorer with 27 points for the Splash Brothers, while Mr. Parillon contributed 19 and Ashield Frett scored 17 in the win.

The West Gunners’ top scorer was Ray Victor with 23 points and Douron Phillips contributed 16 points and Bjorn Celeb scored 13 points in the loss.

In the Junior Division, the Ghut Boyz took the championship after beating the Junior Starz.

Elroy Bollers was named the Junior Division MVP.

There have been four different championship teams in the four years of the league — Ruff House, Bayside Blazers, West Gunners and the Splash Brothers.

The league is open to both male and female players and is governed by the International Basketball Federation rules. Additionally, it is endorsed by the BVI Basketball Federation and has its own by-laws and governing committee.
