Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League will start tomorrow at the Save the Seed Centre in Duffs Bottom.
There are 16 senior teams signed up for the league, which will also include a 9-13 year old junior division. The league will be played under FIBA rules with some by-laws, according to Rajah Smith, the league’s Commissioner. Games will be played on the weekends, starting on Fridays. There will also be an occasional Wednesday night game. The league is scheduled to end November 2. The league will award rings to the championship team.
There will also be a draft with each team able to recruit one “A team player,” who has played in the BVI Basketball Federation League. A raffle will determine what teams gets to pick first. Some of the players being considered for the draft are: Jason Edwin, Kennedy Bass, Ray D. Victor, Randy George, Cedric King, David Lettsome, Steve Parillon, Travis Isaac, Kelvin Samuel, Phillip Glasgow, Javaghn Cameron, Juan Hatchet, Jevone Demming, Trevon Lewis and Dwayne Penn. The league’s opening ceremony will start at 5 p.m. and all teams are expected to have at least five players in attendance. After the ceremony, three games will be played including the defending champions Ruff House versus the Avengers.
