Cycling

The BVI Cycling Federation will host the HLSCC El Zorro Challenge on Sunday. The race will start at the college, head East to the airport passing the airport terminal, turn right on to the main road back to the college and go round the college’s roundabout. Then, head back to East End taking a left at the police station, up to Little Dix Hill and finish at El Zorro to complete 11.4 miles. For more information or to volunteer call 340-3999.

 

Running

The Ceres 10k Series is started on June 15.
The schedule is as follows:
    Sept. 21 — Carrot Bay
    Oct. 19 — East End
     Nov. 9 — Half Marathon tune up and awards
The races start at 6:30 a.m. with registration at 6 a.m., with  the exception of the finale which will be held at 4:30 p.m. with the award ceremony immediately after.
 The first race will start at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds.The course heads to the Port Purcell Roundabout and then to the Prospect Reef Roundabout, with a along Main Street through Lower Estate and finish back at the the track.

Basketball

The Virgin Islands is competing in the  under-17 Centrobasket tournament which started yesterday and continues through August 18 in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. The tournament features two divisions.
Group A includes the Dominican Republic, the VI, El Salvador and Mexico.
In Group B, the Bahamas, the United States Virgin Islands, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico will compete for top spots.  Three teams from the tournament will qualify for the 2014 FIBA Americas under-18 championship.

Volleyball

Today the Virgin Islands will travel to St. Martin to compete in the Junior Male Volleyball Champion tournament. Nine teams from around the region will compete in the tournament. The VI team consist of:
