Running

On Saturday, the CERES 10k running series kicks off with the City Circuit — a tour of Road Town. The race starts and finishes at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds. The race starts at 6:30 a.m. with register at 6 a.m. 

 

There will be a four-mile option and a one-mile youth option.

Sailing

On Saturday, the Royal BVI Yacht Club will host the Lowell Wheatley Anegada Pursuit Race. The first warning signal will be at 9 a.m.

Entries are invited in the following classes: Racing, Multihull, Cruising (Jib and Main) and Performance Cruising. The start will be in Road Harbour and the finish will be at the outer red channel buoy at Anegada. The entry fee is $25 for RBVIYC/WEYC members and $35 for     non-members. Registration will take place at Peg Legs’ beach bar between 6-7 p.m. on Friday or e-mail the RBVIYC.

Basketball

The Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League is slated for Aug. 20 and will run through Oct. 30.

The league will feature both junior and senior divisions, and is open to all eligible male and female players. During the opening ceremony, last year’s champions West Gunners will be awarded their rings, according to a press release sent to this newspaper. Additionally, a new banner will be unveiled at the Save the Seed Energy Centre, where the league is played, in honour of the 2015 championship team.
