A man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly breaking into a woman’s home, kidnapping her, and then running her over with her own vehicle, police said.

The alleged victim was found on the side of the road in Cox Health around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning with visible injuries, according to a press release from the Police Information Office.

The woman told police she had been asleep in her home in Sea Cows Bay when a male entered, placed an object to her throat and demanded money.

“Her assailant then proceeded to tie her hands and cover her face with a cloth, and remove her from the premises in her own vehicle,” the release states.

While being transported, she told police, she untied herself and jumped out of the moving vehicle. Her attacker then tried to run over her, injuring her legs in the process, the release states.

A motorist passing by tried to help, but he was also threatened by the assailant.

Official charges had not been laid as of Friday, according to the Police Information Office, which didn’t identify the man.
