Close to midnight on Friday, five teenagers stole two scooters from the Road Town Police Station compound, police said.

The minors, who range in age from 13 to 16, were able to take the police property by going through a small area adjoining the Althea Scatliffe Primary School fencing, according to the Police Information Office.

The five were arrested, and two were charged with theft, said police, who did not explain why the other three were not charged.

The Police Information Office urged parents and guardians to watch their children and ensure they are “engaged in wholesome activities” during their break from school.

Police also added that during the summer months there is typically an increase in reported theft. Members of the community should regularly check their premises for strange or unexplained items.
