Three boats docked at Baughers Bay caught fire early Tuesday morning, according to Chief Fire Officer Zebalon McLean.

The Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene, and five officers were able to extinguish the blazes within 20 minutes, Mr. McLean said.

The fire chief confirmed that officials identified two of the vessels as the Amiego and the Elysia. However, the name of the third vessel has not been determined.

“All three of [the boats] were damaged beyond repair,” Mr. McLean added.

Two other boats docked at Baughers Bay previously caught fire in the early morning hours of April 4.

No injuries were reported in either incident, and the fire department is investigating both cases, according to Mr. McLean, who said that further details could not be provided until the investigations are completed.
