A 43-year-old Vincentian, Maryann Johnson, was pronounced dead at the Dr. Orlando Smith Hospital on the morning of June 8, Police Information Officer Akia Thomas said on June 10.
At 8:53 a.m. the day of the death, police received a report of an unresponsive woman at the hospital, and later identified her as Ms. Johnson, according to Ms. Thomas.
The police do not know the cause of death “at this time,” said the information officer, who also declined to say why the Purcell Estate resident was hospitalised in the first place.
Asked about the accuracy of news reports that Ms. Johnson was admitted to the hospital after experiencing difficulty breathing, Ms. Thomas replied, “I cannot say.”
She added, “Investigations are ongoing.”
