The Bregado Flax Educational Centre kicked off its 30th anniversary celebrations Sunday with a service at the Sanctuary of Hope New Testament Church of God.

The event was held under the theme “An Oasis of Knowledge: Past, Present, Future,” according to Hilroy George, the principal of the BFEC primary division and the chair of the celebration committee.

“This 30th anniversary celebration is a milestone in the school’s history since our doors were opened in 1982, and we thought it important to stop and reflect on our accomplishments thus far,” the principal said before the service.

The school was named in honour of the late James Alfred Bregado Flax, who served as the first headmaster of the North Sound Methodist School and was an educator for more than 20 years, according to Government Information Services.

In 1984, BFEC graduated its first class, which is being recognised during the anniversary celebrations. The school also plans to hold a recognition dinner in early January.
