A Virgin Islands delegation attended the Telecoms World Conference in Geneva, Switzerland from Oct. 24-27, according to Government Information Services.

Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Deputy Chairman Fiona Forbes, TRC Director of Human Resources Karia Christopher and student Joshua Wheatley attended the conference, which was organised by the International Telecommunications Union, a GIS press release said.

“It was thrilling to be a part of such a prestigious gathering, which included heads of government, representatives from international organisations and CEOs of telecommunications providers,” Ms. Forbes said.

Mr. Wheatley, a student at St. George’s Secondary School, was the VI winner of the World Telecoms Day essay contest. He was awarded with a trip for two to the conference, an iPad, a trophy, a wireless modem and a year of Internet access, along with $1,000 spending allowance, according to a press release from LIME.
