Premier Dr. Orlando Smith travelled to Miami this week to attend the Caribbean Hotel and Resort Investment Summit.

The event, which was held Monday and Tuesday, was expected to attract investors, developers, hotel executives, investment bankers and government tourism officials, according to Government Information Services.

Organisers advertised a programme featuring more than 50 speakers from around the region.

The premier attended in part to promote the territory’s tourism product. He was accompanied by BVI Tourist Board Chairman Russell Harrigan, the publisher of this newspaper.

Deputy Premier Dr. Kedrick Pickering acted as premier in Dr. Smith’s absence.
