On June 1-3, the Virgin Islands competed against St. Vincent and The Grenadines and St. Lucia for the Senior OECS Individual and Team Squash Championships in SVG.
The VI took top spots in several men’s divisions won by Joe Chapman, Joe Faragher-Kneipp in the men’s over-40 and Neville Sorrentino in the men’s over-50 division.
For the women, Daniela Schumann took the top spot in her division.
The VI also had success in the Men’s Veteran Team division with Mr. Faragher-Kneipp beating James Bentick (SVG), 3-0, while Mr. Sorrentino beat Colin Alexander (SVG), 3-1, and Winston Findlay took his match, 3-1, against Keith Boyea (SVG) in the over-60 Men’s division.
In the Women’s Team Division, Ms. Schumann beat Giovanna Miller-Alexander in three straight games, while Zoe Sorrentino played against Gianna Miller-Alexander (SVG).
The VI players included Michael Adamson, Dion Anselm, Anthony Campbell, Mr. Chapman, Mark Chapman, Paul Cowlard, Caroline Dubois, Mr. Faragher-Kneipp, Mr. Findlay, Tatenda Gotosa, Ms. Schumann, Mr. Sorrentino, Sue Sorrentino, Ms. Sorrentino and Richard Taylor.
The results of the OECS Squash Championships determine the players that will make up the OECS teams to compete in the Caribbean Area Squash Association Championships on August 13-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The OECS Men’s Team includes Mr. Faragher-Kneipp (VI), Mr. Chapman (VI), Mr. Sorrentino (VI), Jules Snagg (SVG), Mr. Bentick (SVG), Keith Boyea (SVG), Jason Doyle (SVG), Kevin Hannaway (SVG), Kai Bentick (SVG) and Othniel Bailey (SVG).
The OECS Women’s Team includes Ms. Schumann (VI), Ms. Sorrentino (VI), Ms. Dubois (VI), Gianna Miller-Alexander (SVG) Thandi Myers (SVG), Greta Primus (SVG) and Sherian Slater (SVG).
The OECS Team Manager is Mark Chapman.
