The ruling Virgin Islands Party marked it’s 40th birthday yesterday , and party members will hold an “entire calendar of events” to mark the milestone, said Carvin Malone on the party’s radio programme “Let’s Talk” on Monday night.

Premier Ralph O’Neal, who is the president of the party, said his support for the VIP precedes his political career.

“Even as a civil servant I supported the party,” Mr. O’Neal said, adding that he was “all for” celebrating the anniversary.

“It is a party that has done quite a bit for the territory and brought hope,” he said.

The party has ruled the territory for 29 of the last 40 years.
