Daniel Davies, a law student at the University of the West Indies, believes that Caribbean countries need to work together more closely.

Thus, cultural integration among the university’s student body will be among his goals as the new Law Society president for UWI’s Cave Hill campus.

On March 14, Mr. Davies, 21, became the first Virgin Islander to be elected to the position.

“We who attend the University of the West Indies are likely to be the future leaders of the Caribbean,” he said. “We must recognise the uniqueness of other cultures within the Caribbean.”

As the society president, Mr. Davies is responsible for representing the school’s law students, he said during a telephone interview from Barbados.
