Domestic violence can happen to anyone of any race, economic class or gender. To help spread awareness about the social ill, the Family Support Network is asking residents to wear purple tomorrow.

The initiative is one of several activities the FSN has organised during this Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Staff members visited several schools and companies to give talks on domestic violence, FSN Director Chonda Jeffers said.

But in other respects, the month was not as well supported as Ms. Jeffers would have liked.

A family fun day held on Oct. 14, for instance, saw a low turnout, prompting organisers to postpone a play that had been scheduled for Sunday, she said.

The FSN is hoping for more participation tomorrow during its final event of the month: Dancing with the Stars at Government House.
