Cousins Sherman Williams and Jevon Demming were sentenced to 15 years and seven years imprisonment, respectively, for their alleged attempt on the life of Virgin Gorda man Neil St. Rose.

In October Messrs. Williams and Demming were convicted of attempted murder in connection with an incident where Mr. Williams allegedly shot Mr. St. Rose after Mr. Demming punched him and made him fall to his knees outside of a Virgin Gorda bar.

Mr. Williams was also sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for the charge of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger a life, which will run concurrently with his sentence for attempted murder.

The two were originally tried in June, but a hung jury caused the case to be retried. In the October retrial, Mr. Williams was unanimously convicted, and Mr. Demming was found guilty in an eight-to-one verdict.
