Women honoured at inaugural tea party

Tea, sandwiches, cookies and soft drinks were on the menu as nearly a hundred residents gathered at the J. R. O’Neal Botanic Gardens for the first Rita Frett-Georges Tea on Sunday.

Brightly coloured dresses and fashionable hats were popular among the guests who sat behind round tables on the garden’s lawn while members of the BVI Girl Guides served refreshments.

During the afternoon ceremony, organised by Barnes PR and the Family Support Network, attendees listened as speakers discussed the contributions of Ms. Frett-Georges and other Virgin Islands women.

Honourees included Eugenie Todman-Smith, Marlene Penn-Trotman, Nelda Huggins, Jonel Lacey, Taylor Hill, Tarika Moses and Lakeisha Warner.
