No matter what your goals, the best way to achieve them is to have courage and to be persistent, Melvin “Mitch” Turnbull said Friday as about 20 young jobseekers looked on.

“I don’t think about failure. If it happens it happens, but I don’t think about failure,” said the District Two representative, adding that all successful people have many failures in their past. “Every no gets you closer to that yes that you’re dreaming of, but only if you stay persistent.”

Mr. Turnbull was one of several guest speakers brought in over the course of a weeklong training as part of the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Apprenticeship Programme.

The sessions covered job skills like interviewing and problem-solving, and life skills like money management, said Brenda Lettsome-Tye, the ministry’s deputy secretary.
