Books written by Virgin Islands residents took the spotlight on Thursday at the Department of Culture during a Book Fair that was held for the first time as part of Culture Week.

Six VI authors displayed their books during the event, which attracted students and other residents. Their works included nonfiction, children’s books and poetry.

Sheila Braithwaite, a former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education and Culture, was among the VI authors who attended. Ms. Braithwaite displayed her first book, A Journey of Faith.

“It is a collection of sermons written by me, and it is divided into seven sections, including love, prayer, faith and steadfastness,” Ms. Braithwaite said.

Culture Week continued today with the Cultural Fair at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park. The two-night Fungi Fest is to kick off this evening, and a fish pot workshop will be held tomorrow at the park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
