The Palm Grove location of Western Union on Tortola reopened its doors last Thursday after a three-month closure.Last November the company closed its locations unexpectedly. A statement issued at the time from the company’s agent, DHL Express, apologised to customers for the closure. The statement referred to the closure as “a bank settlement issue, not a regulatory matter.”

Retailer Road Town Wholesale Trading Ltd. is celebrating its 50th anniversary of doing business in the territory. The company, founded by Peter Haycraft, began making deliveries of milk from a small scooter and has grown to a company of 400 employees, the company said in a press release.

 

Bermuda

 

A financial services industry conference held in Bermuda in May will include more than 25 delegates from the Virgin Islands, officials said. The Caribbean Conference of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners will be held at the Fairmount Southhampton in Bermuda from May 16-18, a press release from the VI branch of STEP stated. The conference will be held under the theme “IFCs – Key Partners in Economic Growth” and will include presentations by Robert Mathavious, director of the Financial Services Commission, and Lorna Smith, who runs a consulting firm.
