During a tender-opening ceremony last Thursday, BVI Electricity Corporation General Manager Leroy Abraham read a list of 10 bids submitted by two firms to supply fuel, lubricants and waste removal for some of the territory’s power stations and cars for the next four years.
Delta Petroleum (Caribbean) Limited was the only company to submit bids for the supply of diesel to the Anegada Power Station and gasoline for the vehicles, while Sol St. Lucia LTD (BVI) was the only company to submit bids for both the supply of lubricating oil to the Henry Wilfred Smith Power Station in Pockwood Pond as well as the removal of waste oil and slops at that power station.
Mr. Abraham did not specify when the utility would award contracts to the interested companies, though he said that “over next couple of months we’ll analyse the bids” before making a decision.
For supplying diesel to the Anegada power station, Delta submitted three bids: $938,361.80 for the period of 2022-2024; $1,194,569.80 for 2022-2025; and $1,367,510.20 for 2022-2026.
This firm also submitted three bids for the supply of gasoline for vehicles: $296,053.70 for the period of 2022-2024; $422,715.85 for 2022-2025; and $549,378.00 for 2022-2026.
Similarly, Sol tendered three bids for lubricating oil for the Pockwood Pond station: $626,997.23 for the period of 2022-2024; $897,254.66 for 2022-2025; and $1,081,029.71for 2022-2026.
Sol was the only firm to submit bids for removing waste oil from the power station over the next four years.
The company submitted bids of $2.36 per American gallon for the periods of 2022-2024; 2022-2025; and 2022-2026.
