“The key to feed the world is to share our food,” students from Paradise Preschool sang during a ceremony held at the Central Administration Complex on Tuesday. The students were among nearly two-dozen people who gathered for the World Food Day celebration organised by the Department of Agriculture.

The Food and Agricultural Organisation, an international body, came up with the idea to observe the day 33 years ago, according to Chief Agricultural Officer Bevin Braithwaite.

The theme is year is “Agricultural Cooperatives- Key to Feeding the World.” This was the fourth year the event was held in the territory.

In his remarks, Mr. Braithwaite encouraged farmers to form cooperatives and help each other in offsetting the costs of production.

At the end of the ceremony participants were given samples of fried lionfish and also handed several recipes on how to safely prepare the invasive species.
