Three people are dead and three others remain missing after two unrelated plane crashes in the Eastern Caribbean region last week.

Two passengers and the pilot of Fly Montserrat Flight 107 were killed in a crash on Sunday, Oct. 7, when the nine-seat Britten-Norman Islander plane that was headed from Antigua to Montserrat slammed into the ground seconds after taking off, according to the Antigua Observer newspaper. Investigations into the cause of the accident continue.

A sole survivor, Michael Hudson, 23, is recovering in the hospital while the crash claimed the lives of Captain Jason Forbes, Annya Duncan and Sandrama Poligadu, the newspaper said.

Less than a week after the Fly Montserrat crash, a privately owned plane travelling from St. Croix to St Thomas crashed into waters six miles south of St. Thomas early Saturday morning, according to the United States Coast Guard.
