In observance of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, the National AIDS Programme is planning a “National Youth Summit Tour” to all secondary and tertiary schools in the Virgin Islands next week.

Under the theme, “The Right to be Me and to Beat HIV,” the tour will target ages 12-24, according to Government Information Services.

“The objective is to empower our young people to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles by creating a forum for them to discuss critical sexual health issues that affect them, and to enable them to identify and implement strategies for making the best lifestyle choices,” said Noelene Levons-Clarke, the NAP programme coordinator.

To that end, the organisation will partner with a team of local and regional facilitators to present sessions on sexual health, as well exercises focused on HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections and human rights, according to GIS.
