“Service ambassadors” are temporarily stationed at some of the territory’s seaports to promote customer relations, according to Government Information Services.

Twelve apprentices from the Ministry of Communications and Works’ Apprenticeship Programme recently completed a two-week training, and were scheduled to start two-week stints on Aug. 4, a GIS press release said.

“We want our residents and visitors to have a better welcoming experience and we want to provide more direction and services to visitors coming into our ports,” Communications and Works Minister Mark Vanterpool said.

Among other duties, the ambassadors are to assist passengers with completing immigration and customs forms prior to arriving at check-in stations; aid port users with securing taxi services; answer inquiries for general information and directions; and assist the elderly through security and screening.

They are stationed at West End, Road Town, and St. Thomas Bay, Virgin Gorda, according to GIS.
