Jonathan Colaire claimed he was outside a bar in Crabbe Lot on Nov. 18 when Wakima Lettsome shot him after he felt that Mr. Colaire “dissed him.”

Mr. Colaire testified in High Court Tuesday morning that he was speaking to a friend when Mr. Lettsome, who denies the allegations and is being defended by attorney Stephen Daniels, approached, interrupting their conversation and attempting to get his attention.

“I told him everything was safe and I didn’t want anything,” Mr. Colaire said of Mr. Lettsome, who faces charges of attempted murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

But Mr. Daniels, the defence attorney, repeatedly questioned Mr. Colaire’s testimony, arguing that it differed from statements he had given to police while recovering from his wounds at the hospital.
