An autopsy revealed that Felix “Freddy” Colon Beltre, the barber shot during an apparent robbery on Aug. 26, died from a single gunshot wound to his upper body, police said this week.

Mr. Colon Beltre, a 34-year-old native of the Dominican Republic residing in Purcell Estate, along with a 29-year-old man, had left work at the D’Bella Beauty Salon and Barber Shop when they were approached by an armed man demanding money, Detective Inspector Nigel Niven said at a community meeting last week.

The other man, who received injuries to his leg, was treated and released from Peebles Hospital, according to a police press release.

Police are seeking an English-speaking male, described as being over six feet tall and “well built,” who may have been at the scene at the time of the shooting, according to the release. Anyone with information is asked to contact the special investigation unit at 468-2718 or phone an anonymous tip to the Miami-based Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477.
