Items collected from the scene indicate that a male body recovered from the Crabbe Hill area on late Saturday afternoon may be that of Renold Peters, but police have not yet made a positive identification, according to the Police Information Office.

Officers responded to the scene on Saturday after Crabbe Hill residents reported an odour, Police Information Officer Diane Drayton stated.

The body, which was deemed to be beyond recognition, was recovered from a densely bushy area, Ms. Drayton added.

Police have not determined the cause of death, she said.

Officers had been searching for Mr. Peters since a domestic assault was reported in Crabbe Hill on Nov. 28.

The alleged assault victim received severe wounds to her hands, neck and body, and she continues to receive treatment at Peebles Hospital.
