FSC warning

The territory’s financial services regulator last week released a list of three financial services companies that are not licensed to do business in the Virgin Islands. The Financial Services Commission “became aware” that Harbourlight FAB Fund Ltd., a mutual fund, may have done business in the VI without being registered, according to an FSC press release. Aerolite Ltd. was reportedly offering investment opportunities through telemarketing while representing itself as a VI-registered company, the press release said. Additionally, Telerad Property & Casualty Insurance Corporation is no longer licensed to do insurance business in the territory. Its licence expired on Dec. 31, 2007, the FSC said, advising companies to “exercise extreme caution” when doing business with all three firms.
