CABIN CREW

The government-subsidised airline BVI Airways announced last week that it’s hired and begun training cabin crewmembers.

BVI Airways selected four Virgin Islands residents as its first class of crew that will serve on its non-stop flights between Tortola and Miami. The crew’s training started last week and will continue this week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. “The hiring and training of our cabin crew is one of the key milestones as we prepare to begin operations in the Virgin Islands,” said BVI Airways President Jerry Willoughby. “Our primary goals were to recruit customer service and safety-centric personnel who reflect the spirit and essence of the BVI — we are delighted that our first class of BVI residents exceeded our goals.” BVI Airways still has not announced when flights between Miami and Tortola will begin.

Details on the agreement are scant, but Dr. Smith said the agreement sets development goals in the areas of financial services, technology, media, communications, infrastructure, real property, alternative energy, and others. “China has long been our development partner in this region. A new relationship with Tianjin further solidifies that relationship,” said the premier.
